Textiles in the Yurt.

Hooked Rag Rug Workshop.

Fabulous and intricate designs can be achieved in hooked Rag Rugging.

On the day of the workshop, you will learn the technique and begin to work on your own design, which due to the nature of the materials used, will grow quite quickly. There will be some designs ideas available to inspire you on the day, but you may wish to bring along your own design inspiration such as photos or magazine cuttings.

During the workshop, you will be working on a wooden frame, these will be available to purchase at a cost of £4, if you wish. All other materials will be provided.

Rag Rugging is a great way of recycling, if you have any T shirts or stretchy materials on their way to the charity shop, please feel free to bring these along.

Brooch and Badge Making.

In this 3 hour workshop, you will have the opportunity to make at least one fabulous, individual textile brooch incorporating vintage linens with hand stitching. Those of you who have been on an embroidery workshop (Kantha Banjara or Indian mirrorwork workshops) could use these skills to embellish your badges. All materials will be supplied, but if you have any special buttons, broken jewellery, scraps of fabrics, etc. that you wish to incorporate into your brooch, please bring these along with you.

Knit a Fairisle Cafetiere Cosy.

This workshop will be both an introduction to Fairisle knitting, as well as a chance to further explore the technique for those who have attended previous Fairisle workshops. During this workshop you can learn to use Fairisle patterns to make a colourful cafetiere cosy or develop a panel of Fairisle knitting which could be incorporated into a cushion. If you would like to make a beret we will send you some instructions to get you started before the workshop so that you can knit the ribbed band of the hat. Materials will be supplied, if you do have any particular colours of double knitting wool that you wish to incorporate into your knitting, please bring these along with a pair of n.8 / 4mm knitting needles.
